Club Activities: Club 99 members can Bowl for free on Thursday afternoons in exchange for the Club managing the the Bowling Centre. You can also play cards, shuffle board or just have coffee & socialize on Thursday afternoons and evenings.

The "Sweethearts" had a holiday as the men did the work at the Club 99 Sweetheart Dinner on Thursday Feb. 14 at the Wakaw Rec Centre. After friendly greetings at the door from Maggie and Louis Latos, the sweethearts and their escorts gravitated to bar-man Bob Cournoyer for their pre-dinner drink. The Beef on a Bun, carved by Chefs Neil McCulloch and Gordon Kidd, was excellent, as were the salads. Andy Gerwing and Steve Crashaw, along with Ernie Kraus and Steve Latos (who served the delicious strawberry shortcake) kept things running smoothly in the kitchen. Carol Crashaw directed the guests to the serving tables, while Isabelle McCulloch played love songs on the piano for our listening enjoyment.
After the excellent meal the guests were encouraged to dance to the music supplied by Del Olson on the banjo and mandolin, and his wife Gloria who hail from Saskatoon. Bingo, and spot dances provided just some of the fun for the evening, and more than one guest commented that the sound of the music allowed for comfortable visiting, as well as enjoyable listening.
The evening came to a close after guests enjoyed birthday cake in honor of Pauline Reynaud's 90th birthday. Pauline shared the honor with her first-cousin Leon who would be celebrating his birthday on Friday.
A big Thank-you has to go out to the McCullochs and Kidds and their crew for all the work they did to decorate the hall, make and serve the food, and royally entertain the Sweethearts and their guests.
The next Club 99 Party will be Vegas Night which has been rescheduled to March 6, 2008. Please change your calendars. There will be more information to follow in the next couple of weeks.
Club 99 activities go every Thursday evening at the Wakaw Bowling Alley. Sing 99 meets at 6:00PM, with cards and games starting at 7:30PM. Anyone over 50 is welcome to join us. Walking goes at the Wakaw Rec Centre every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Morning at 9:00 AM. Everyone is welcome to come out.
